Introducing the ExtraTextual podcast
A Sci-Fi film review show, focusing on intersections with philosophy, religion, and culture.
My buddy David and I are launching our podcast, ExtraTextual! On it, we review Sci-Fi films with a particular focus on how their ideas and themes intersect with philosophy, religion, and our broader culture. The show features a mix of new releases, classics, and personal favorites, with new episodes dropping every couple weeks. *Warning: episodes contain spoilers.
True to any start-up mythology, the origin of this podcast has its roots in a garage—that of David and his wife’s former house off Noriega St. in San Francisco, where for years we gathered on an old couch to watch a sci-fi on their projector hanging in that dark space. While “Sci-Fi Fridays” in recent times have seen some upgrades (moved indoors, better sound system), what hasn’t changed is our love of the late-night debriefing sessions that follow (sponsored by Umpqua ice cream and Diet Coke). We’re excited to share these discussions with ExtraTextual and keep the conversations going with listeners.
Check us out (on Spotify, Apple, Audible) and send us feedback as we get this show rolling!
